Sam has been a vampire for 15 years, and now he's having a midlife crisis. That is, if he were still human, he'd be turning 40 and having a midlife crisis. He's just met exactly the kind of woman he's always wanted -- but these days, all he really wants is blood. Maybe he could work through it, but his vampire roommates just don't understand. Wasn't unlife supposed to get easier?

This novella is set in the world of Carrie Vaughn's bestselling Kitty Norville series.

Paranormal Bromance eBook Carrie Vaughn

2.99 is a bit steep for a 65 page short story. This is a lightly humorous "Kitty-verse" story about 3 nerdy vampire roommates still adjusting to their undead lifestyle and one of them meeting a girl he really likes. Cameo appearances of Rick, as Master of Denver and Kitty via her radio show. The story moves along well and you may end up wanting to read more about the characters.

Paranormal Bromance eBook Carrie Vaughn Reviews

While this is an entertaining short story set in the world of Kitty Norville, I don't really feel it does justice to the title. I do applaud the tittle as a form of advertising - it captured my imagination much more then "Paranormal friendships" would have. It was a very short story, but it had an overall good feel, and i think a fan of the canon world will be pleased with what they read. I do see some passing similarities to Rick Gualtieri's "Bill the Vampire" series, with the characters softened, maybe. I'm mostly sure it's incidental.

So why do I say friendships, and not bromance? A bromance is a friendship so tight and thick that from the outside it can be mistaken for romance - this means it's most visible between two dudes [though despite the portmanteau of 'bro' and 'romance', I believe a bromance can be between any two genders], since male to female relationships have too much potential romance, and female to female relationships are often depicted as being physically very close - male to male relationships, on the other hand, are often depicted as distant, even antagonistic, so a close relationship stands out.
In this story, there is an antagonistic and a distant male-male relationship, and a new friendship with a male-female that has overtones of romantic interest, but with the need to avoid it for supernatural impulses - these are entertaining, but not a bromance, sadly
This novella s set in the Kitty Norville Universe, but most of the characters in the main storyline make no appearance, or only a brief appearance. These new characters are somewhat developed, but as this is relatively short book, there is not enough character development, and the story ends somewhat suddenly. I like the series, and am looking forward to reading more of it.
this is a fun, tightly written story about some young vampires, young in both age and experience. Two characters from her Kitty Norville books make welcome appearances. I recommend this story to any reader of paranormal fantasy who likes honest, likable characters and a believable story.
I love everything Carrie Vaughn writes, so I'm hardly an objective reviewer here. But this was a clever story about "normal" guys who also happen to be vampires, and since I generally don't have much patience for vampire stories and she managed to make me care about them, well done. Everything here, including the plot, was refreshingly fun, and she asked the same sorts of questions I would ask about how living as a vampire would work.
This is the book that I want to read. Not every book about vampires needs to start with them being hundreds of years old and masters of the night. It's so awesome to see a novel about vampires who are technically nobodies. I absolutely loved this book and it gave me warm fuzzier to read.
This is a Story about three young vampires living in a house in Denver. Set in the authors Kitty the werewolf's world. Well told, and surprisingly gripping for given how short it is. I hope these characters turn up again and one of her regular Denver novels.
A quick-reading novelette set in the Denver of the Kitty Norville stories, in which werewolves, vampires, and other things are real, and humanity has recently been brought in on the centuries-old secret.

15 years after being randomly turned into vampires during a coup attempt by a power-hungry vamp, three roommates are still struggling to find their paths in their new un-lives.

They go to a fancy club they can only get into because they're vampires and order pizza so they can grab sips of the delivery guy's blood before handing the pizza off to the homeless.

When a reporter wants to interview some non-celebrity, "normal guy" vampires, is it any wonder she'd look to The Denver Family's lowest, youngest members? It makes perfect sense that she'd ask a lot about The Family and it's leader, Rick, doesn't it?
While the three nerdy vampires contemplate their status, girls, and their collective future and avoid damaging a bunch of 80's collectibles waiting to be shipped out to eager EBay bidders, they've also got to make sure they don't accidentally land themselves in the middle of a vamp war--or end up with a broken heart.
