(This is a Xianxia tale. If you like stories of this genre then you will definitely like God Slayer Vol.1. Kindly read beyond chapter two before giving up on my book. The first two chapters have a lot of info and less action which makes them a little boring. Things get interesting from chapter three onward.)

The storyline is typical for Wuxia, and that is not a big issue, although it is a bit fast paced. I simply stopped reading due to the writing style. Too many repetitive words and overly extensive explenations within a single paragraph. Think, green stones that glow green or wooden puppets made out of iron wood which consists of wood and iron element and is as strong as iron (and the author needed a whole paragraph to explain the iron wood thing).Product details

The grammar/punctuation on this had me quit early on. I realize the author asked for people to make it past the first 2 chapters, but if it takes that long to hook the reader, the author should try an editor.
An overall good book, in the style of TinaLlynge's Blue Phenix series, with way to many repetitive explanations of the ranks of the different beings, and an weirdly abrupt end that looks like someone tore a bigger book in 2 at the end of a paragraph.
I really liked this book can't wait to see where the next book takes the story I will definitely read the next book
I feel that the author of this book put a lot of thought and effort to create this universe and these charactors. I am looking forward in seeing how this continues. I would however like to comment that more work should be done to correct the tenses of some of the words and actions in the story.
The biggest problem is with editing or the lack thereof. I understand that this is written in the style of the 19th century Wuxia novellas. Those novella's style does not easily translate to English without some reformatting of the sentence and paragraph structure. If this is a first novel then it's a great effort. Worth a read. If you like Wuxia give it a chance. If the author has ESL then they need to get some editing help to get their quality up to 4-5 stars. I am going to try the Vol 2 as I have Unlimited so it's not costing me anything extra. If not for that fact I ...
Just like the author says slog through the first 2-3 chapters. I'd say skip em but there are a few nuggets that tie in to start the story. Once the story starts it is filled with all of your Xianxia needs. Decent MC and I really like his companions. I myself have read many of these novels this one is pretty good.
To the author....I highly recommend rewriting the beginning of this book and update it on . The style where you give all of the background and world rules you wrote in the beginning gets lost as white noise with little impact or no meaning since there is no story content to go with it. These things should all be added in as the story develops. This way is better and your system/world/rules stay with the reader as he learns these things with the MC. Other than the intro good job. It made me want to buy book 2!
I’m not sure how much of the story is lost in translation, but it was good enough that I read it all. That being said, that’s what bumped it up to three stars.
While I enjoyed the story, it isn’t delivered to the reader well. It’s more a jumble of ideas with artificial transitions loosely strung together. Also, the writing and grammer is BAD. I’m talking make you scratch your head trying to figure out what the author meant multiple times per chapter.
Final review solid 2 stars that was bumped up to three because I was able to finish the book on my third try. Enough story to kindle the imagination, but stifled by atrocious writing (again, not sure if that is on the writing end or the translation). If you’re starved for cultivation world books AND have read all the better ones out there, this is worth a buck or two.
